The Sea Faerie Queen's Necklace ~Worn by Me
~~~
It's actually easier to wear than i thought it would be...it's not heavy, the chains make it nice and dangly, and overall...i do enjoy wearing it :D. I get alot of nice comments about it too XD Hurray for big jewelry!!!! I'm 5'10...so small jewelry tends to get lost on me, especially necklaces.
~~~

As a child I loved L. Frank Baum's Oz series, and just recently i discovered his story The Sea Fairies ([link]). This necklace was partly inspired by that story (more the title, than anything else, really), and also inspired by my love for the ocean.

For this necklace i just wanted to create something that might have been worn by a sea faerie queen...but washed up on shore and found by me :D

I am submitting this to Lisajen-stock's Fairy contest [link] :D

15 hours to make, 9 inches long from the top of the mother of pearl donut button to the bottom of the sliced shell.

I've posted other views/closeups as well :)

Materials: Silver 34 gauge wire I twisted, silver findings, old brass and silver chains that I had saved from broken necklaces over the years, silver star and diamond shapes, mother of pearl donut button, glass beads, frosted sea glass beads, mexican abalone shell chips, various real shells, peach 6mm, blue 2mm, and aqua 2mm cat's eye beads, freshwater pearls.

Edit: Credit has to be given to Doctor-Gus for the idea of packing 'a whole ton of stuff' onto one of these donut buttons XD He was less than impressed with the sparsity of Danger Ahead [link] and wanted me to add more to it...i liked the idea, but for a different necklace XD i'm darn proud of Danger Ahead! Even if it is sparse! ESPECIALLY because it is sparse!

I love this bracelet! But then I love all your work. It is very whimsical and free form. I love it when we can get out of the mundane, routine and really let our imagination fly! You seem to be able to do that nicely. Gen [link]
